Overview

Kedarnath Trek is one of the sacred Char Dham and Panch Kedar journeys in Uttarakhand. Kareri Hikers runs a guided 5 days / 4 nights package from Haridwar or Rishikesh: hotel stay at Guptkashi / Sitapur, the classic 16 km walk from Gaurikund, temple darshan at 3,583 m, then the descent and drive back.

The trail follows the Mandakini valley. Most walkers take 6–8 hours up and 5–7 hours down. Ponies, palkis and helicopters can be arranged on the spot at extra cost — they are not in this package.

Best season: May–June and September–October (temple opening dates follow the Uttarakhand government calendar).

Cost: from ₹9,999 per person (sharing). 5% GST extra. Delhi / Dehradun pickup can be added on request.

Advance ₹3,000 per person to confirm your seat; balance collected 24 hours before departure.

Itinerary

01Day 1: Haridwar / Rishikesh to Guptkashi

Drive ~210 km · 8–9 hours · Meals: Dinner

Morning pickup from Haridwar or Rishikesh.
Drive along the Alaknanda via Devprayag, Rudraprayag and Tilwara.
Reach Guptkashi / Sitapur by evening.
Briefing for the next day’s trek and overnight at the hotel.

02Day 2: Guptkashi – Gaurikund – Kedarnath trek

Drive to Gaurikund + 16 km trek · 6–8 hours · Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Early breakfast, then cab to Sonprayag and shared jeep to Gaurikund (1,982 m).
Start the 16 km trail towards Kedarnath.
Pit stops at Rambara and Linchauli for tea and rest.
Reach Kedarnath (3,583 m) by afternoon.
Evening aarti if time allows. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / camp.

03Day 3: Kedarnath temple darshan

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Early morning temple darshan.
Optional walk to Bhairavnath Temple above the town for valley views.
Rest, photographs and free time around the shrine.
Dinner and second night at Kedarnath.

04Day 4: Descend to Gaurikund and drive to Guptkashi

16 km descent · 5–7 hours · Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

After breakfast, trek down the same trail to Gaurikund.
Shared jeep to Sonprayag, then cab to Guptkashi / Sitapur.
Hot shower, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

05Day 5: Guptkashi to Haridwar / Rishikesh

Drive ~210 km · 8–9 hours · Meals: Breakfast

Breakfast and checkout.
Drive back to Haridwar or Rishikesh.
Drop at the station / bus stand by evening with temple memories.
